The Children’s Cottage Society is fortunate to have many dedicated supporters in our city! Earlier this week, we hosted one of our long-time friends — the Calgary Real Estate Board Charitable Foundation (CREB) – for a wonderful day of philanthropy and volunteering at the Crisis Nursery.
Since 2008, the CREB Charitable Foundation has generously donated $70,000 to the Children’s Cottage Society. Funds were used for a number of big items, like remodelling our wonderful kitchen (which we use daily to feed nutritious meals to our little ones), updating the Crisis Nursery roof, replacing mattresses, as well as purchasing beds and much needed furniture for our families a Brenda’s House.
“Whenever I look at our kitchen, I just think of CREB members and the wonderful gifts you’ve given us,” said Patty Kilgallon, the Children’s Cottage CEO, while touring the group through the Nursery. “Every time a meal is made or a dishwasher is run, it’s thanks to CREB.”
The group of volunteers worked hard all afternoon unloading old sand and loading new, clean sand in the sandbox for the children at the Crisis Nursery. They also did a huge yard clean up and cooked in the kitchen, prepping meals and snacks that will soon be in the bellies of our little ones.
It is no secret that the Children’s Cottage, and the children and families we help, would not be as success today without the rallying of the community.
Thank you CREB for continuing your support, compassion and love for all things Children’s Cottage!
