“The Children's Cottage is a place I knew well 20 years ago. My mom was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder when I was three. It took a couple of years to balance out her meds and get her back to the mom that I knew. I knew she was sick, but I never understood how badly until I was much older. I realized I never knew because when it got bad, I stayed at the Crisis Nursery.
“It’s a magical place, a place I was always excited to visit. I loved all the adults, the sleepovers, the games, the crafts… I have nothing but amazing memories. I always looked forward to going, never knowing the true purpose: to give my mother time to see a doctor and get well again for me.
“Now as an adult myself, I work with at-risk families. The Crisis Nursery played a big role in me surviving my childhood and becoming the person I am today. Thank you for all you did for me, and all that you'll do for others like me.”
