HOURS: 40 hours/week
JOB PURPOSE: The position exists to provide senior leadership to Crisis Support program areas, to be a strategic thought leader to the Society, and to ensure appropriate evidence-based directions are developed and exercised in all program areas and/or in the development of new program directions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate degree in the Human Services field, or undergraduate degree with additional relevant experience
- Minimum of 8 years managing varied and complex programs
- Minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership position overseeing leadership staff
- Minimum of 5 years planning and developing programs, overseeing implementation, and guiding evaluation

- Strong business acumen with an understanding of budgeting and financial tracking

- Experience developing and implementing strategies and plans, and overseeing prevention, early intervention and crisis support initiatives
- Experience in program design and development
- Experience developing program logic models; leading and developing an evaluation framework and an understanding of evidence-based practice
- Experience hiring and mentoring staff, coaching and evaluating performance, setting team goals and achieving results while maintaining an inclusive, collaborative leadership style
- Able to work well with people with a very wide diversity of demographic and cultural characteristics
- Ability to cultivate and maintain strong collaborative community partnerships
- In-depth understanding of and experience with client data base systems and paperless service delivery
- Exceptional communication and writing skills
- Ability to impact change at a systems level
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the CCS Crisis Support Programs stream of operations, and related areas of activity, including:
- Crisis Nursery – crisis respite care
- Triage, Admission & Assessment
- Family Housing Support
- Family Mental Health Crisis Support
- Indigenous and Diversity Strategies
- CCS Volunteer Program
- CCS Client Data Base
- Participate as an active member of the Society’s Executive Management Committee
- Provide leadership in the Children’s Cottage strategic planning processes and operational planning, including program budget development and program management
- Take a lead role in developing the agency Indigenous and Diversity strategies
- Ensure sound fiscal management of programs and support team Leads to operate programs within budget
- Effectively supervise, coach, develop and delegate to a strong team of program leaders
- Manage critical timelines, ensure deliverables, and meet deadlines
- Assist managers with setting priorities and developing action plans
- Engage and work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, funders, and board members
- Identify opportunities for new programs and projects and help prepare funding applications
- Ensure and implement a robust program evaluation model
- Support the smooth operation of the agency’s client data base and the implementation of paperless practice
- Prepare and submit program description documents required by funders to establish contracts (e.g. Schedule A’s or similar documents)
- Prepare and submit all required program reports as per contract directions to funders and other partners
- Provide interim and annual program reports to the Board
- Assist with revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing programs and the growth of Children’s Cottage Society through public speaking, report writing, and attending events as necessary.
- Participates in community committees to support the Society’s goals and directions
- Inform and maintain policies relative to program directions
- Maintain accreditation and funder standards, and lead accreditation reviews
- Participate in on-call rotation
- Provide back up for Program Managers in their absence
- Provide support to leadership team around HR related issues and staff performance.
- Coordinate an integrated service delivery model that ensures all families are connected to the right programs and have access to the supports they need
- Provide coverage for the CEO as needed
- Other duties relevant to the position, as may be assigned by the CEO
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
- Be mobile by moving oneself from place to place quickly and easily, including walking and climbing stairs
- Be able to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for long periods of time
- Repeat various motions with the wrists, hands, and fingers
- Drive to other locations in varying weather conditions
- Be subjected to outside environmental conditions during events – e.g. exposure to hot and cold weather
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 25 pounds in weight
- Must be able to stand, squat, walk, kneel, bend, grasp, climb, push and pull
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position also requires
- Personal use of a vehicle
- A police security clearance and child welfare clearance must be completed and renewed every three years with results satisfactory to CCS in order to become and remain employed with the organization.
