Dr. Sandra Reilly Receives Meritorious Service Medal

Published Monday, October 22, 2018

The Children’s Cottage Society would like to share the news that Dr. Sandra Muir Reilly, founder of the Children’s Cottage Society and member of the Board for over 30 years was presented with the Meritorious Service Medal by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada on Saturday, October 20, 2018.

The Meritorious Service Decorations recognize great Canadians for exceptional deeds that bring honour to our country.

Sandra Reilly founded the Calgary Children’s Cottage Society in 1986 to provide a safe place for parents to leave their children during times of crisis. For over three decades, she provided critical information to educators and policy makers in support of changes to social services in her community. Her innovative approach to child welfare has helped more than 60 000 children, strengthened family ties, and set the model for other crisis nurseries in Canada.

We offer sincere congratulations to Dr. Reilly on receipt of this award and her service to the Children’s Cottage Society and to children and their families.
