Brenda’s House remains business as usual! However, we are making every attempt to house families as quickly as possible. Thanks to COVID-19 Response funding from the Provincial government, we have rapidly moved 14 families from shelter into their own homes within the last 2 weeks! Today, we are able to welcome more families in need of shelter into Brenda’s House with the goal of moving them into their own home right away. Each family who stays with us has their own room and private bathroom. You will be safe.
If families require isolation, we will work with the family to determine a safe solution.
• The Child Development room is closed until further notice
• Childcare supports are, however, available for emergencies. The Child Development Team Lead or Program Manager must authorize all childcare
Gift in Kind Donation: We are accepting gift-in-kind donations that are listed on our wish-list. Due to COVID-19, we are no longer able to accept anything but wish list items at Brenda’s House. We encourage all donations to be delivered from local businesses that do delivery and/or amazon. Anyone who is able to help with the requested items can contact Elisha Jackson at 587-998-2419 to ensure safe drop-offs.
HOMELINKS, RAPID REHOUSING AND ADAPTIVE CASE MANAGEMENT
These Case Management programs are available to families who are experiencing homelessness. Our Case Management programs provide ongoing support to referred families to help them build the social networks and skills needed to remain housed. They provide goal-setting support and resource connection.
Our case managers continue to provide support through phone and video calls to families. They continue to offer their support through links to community resources and ensuring families have all their basic needs met at this time. Case managers have also come together to offer their support to families at Brenda’s House to find housing as well!
To find out more you can call Brenda’s House at 403 242-8575.
Homebridge continues to provide coaching support and connection to community resources in order to ensure that families remain in their own homes and can avoid a shelter stay. Homebridge is also helping move families out of Brenda’s house by providing one-time financial support to families who are experiencing homelessness or unstable housing at this time and to help them get back on their feet as quickly as possible.
Families who are experiencing housing instability and who are at risk of becoming homeless can call 403 242-8575 ext. 230 for coaching support and one-time financial assistance.
In-home Infant Respite:
In-home infant respire workers are currently working remotely and continue to offer their support through the phone and resource connections to isolated families with children up to 6 months old.
It is with great sadness that we announce that the Healthy Families program has ended as of March 31st. Our amazing staff members have been ensuring ongoing client visits continue via phone, text, or video calls. Home visitors are in constant communication with families to support parenting, child development, and information and referrals as appropriate. While all our staff members work from home, our home visitors have put together Early Years Parenting Pointer videos for parents with young children ages 0-6 years old during this time of crisis. You can find these videos on our Instagram and website!
