The Children’s Cottage Society, established in Calgary in 1986, provides crisis nursery, community respite, and family support programs to more than 3,500 children a year. The Society’s mission is to “Build strong children and safe, nurturing families through prevention programs and support services” and our vision is “Resilient children blossom in healthy families.”
Brenda’s House is a residential program for homeless families that serves up to 14 children and manor style facility with a modern kitchen and dining area in the Killarney neighborhood in Southwest Calgary.
This position is a relief housekeeping position, and does not have any specific days, times or hours. The hourly rate for this role is $20/hour.
Qualifications:
- Valid Standard First Aid Certificate
- Experience cleaning in a residential setting
- Valid Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR level B
- Current Police Security and Child Intervention Record checks with satisfactory results
Responsibilities:
- Maintain facility in a sanitary condition through washing and cleaning of equipment and furnishings.
- Damp dust furniture, light fixtures, windowsills, baseboards, etc.
- Sweep, mop and vacuum floor surfaces.
- Clean and sanitize bathroom and diaper changing areas.
- Assist with laundry when needed.
- Ensure that linen closets are kept tidy and organized.
- Regular cleanings of kitchen appliances (inside of refrigerator, oven, microwave, etc.).
- Assist with cleaning and organization of the garage storage area.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- A Police Information Check, which includes a vulnerable sector search, is required prior to employment.
- A Child Intervention Record Check is required upon commencement of employment.
- Proof of Educational requirements must be presented in original form prior to job offer.
