The Children’s Cottage Society, established in Calgary in 1986, provides crisis nursery, community respite, and family support programs to more than 3,500 children a year. The Society’s mission is to “Build strong children and safe, nurturing families through prevention programs and support services” and our vision is “Resilient children blossom in healthy families.”

Hours: 35-hour work week, Monday through Friday.

Salary: $20.00 per hour

*This is a Temporary Role for an 8 Week Period as part of the

Canada Summer Jobs Program*

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working toward Post-Secondary Education or completed research and evaluation post-secondary course work.
  • Experience in entering data.
  • Experience entering data for evaluation and research purposes for human service programs.
  • Experience with Excel is required.
  • Experience with SPSS, HMIS and/or NewOrg or other human service data systems is an asset.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a very organized, accurate and detail-oriented way
  • Ability to train and support staff as they use the databases.
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reporting
    • Enter statistical data to support the completion of all annual reports for Data Entry Coordinator and Managers to complete reports to funders.
    • Support Data Entry Coordinator with monthly reports when needed.
    • Run reports to assess data quality and completion.
    • Review HMIS Qlik Reports for accuracy and completion.
    • Supporting the Data Entry Coordinator with completing all agency and funder required reports.
    • Monitoring and supporting with training staff on data entry responsibilities.
    • Provide NewOrg Training as needed
  • Data Collection
    • Support the day-to-day functions of agency databases which include.
      • Fixing data entry mistakes as required
      • Run reports for data quality purposes as needed.
      • Repair program history when needed.
      • Monitor quality of data collected and entered, for completeness and accuracy.
      • Enter data into Microsoft Forms and NewOrg.
    • Provide training for staff in the use of the databases.
    • Provide support and feedback related to staff use of the databases.
  • Physical and Environmental Demands
    • Requires the ability to use the phone, computer and sitting for extended periods of time.
    • Normal movements of twisting, bending, reaching, and using hands and arms in completing computer and paperwork.
    • The ability to mentally focus on tasks that require concentration and focus.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Police Information Check, which includes a vulnerable sector search, is required prior to employment.
  • A Child Intervention Record Check is required upon commencement of employment.
