Toy donations

We welcome donations of new or gently used toys that are in good repair. Due to storage space and holiday season activities, no used toys can be accepted between December 1 and January 15th.

Textile donations

We are always in need of clothes for newborns and children up to 18 years old. Children at the Crisis Nursery often leave with clothes they are given, so the Children's Cottage is always replenishing our closet. We accept new or gently used items that are in good repair and have been cleaned prior to delivery from January 16 to November 30. Due to storage space and holiday season activities, no used clothing can be accepted between December 1 and January 15th.

Baby swings and bouncers

We are able to accept gently used baby swings and bouncers. For details on other equipment, see below.

Unable to accept

Due to health and safety regulations and storage space issues, the Children's Cottage Society is unable to accept:

  • Used stuff animals or plus toys
  • Used children’s apparatus/equipment (high chairs, cribs, car seats, play pens, etc.)
  • Used mattresses (of any size)
  • Used furniture (including children’s furniture)
  • Used household appliances

If you wish to donate new items in these categories, please contact Elisha at 403-283-4200, ext. 221 or ejackson@childrenscottage.ab.ca to discuss.

The holiday season

During the holiday season, we have a special wish list of items for children and families available on our website. Because we have limited storage space, we kindly request that you do not donate used items of any description from December 1 to January 15.

Tax Receipts

The Children’s Cottage Society issues tax receipts for monetary donations over $20. Children’s Cottage is unable to issue tax receipts for item donations. If you have any questions regarding tax receipts please contact fundraising@childrenscottage.ab.ca or call 403-283-4200 ext. 221.
