For 40 years, our Crisis Nursery has provided respite care for children when families are experiencing crisis, stress, illness, overwhelming circumstances, or simply need support to navigate a difficult moment. We are proud to introduce a name for the Crisis Nursery: Nan’s Place. While the program itself is not changing, the new name reflects the warmth, comfort, and care that families experience when they walk through our doors.
The name Nan’s Place was chosen because it evokes a feeling familiar to many people: a place where you are welcomed, cared for, and supported without judgment. It reflects the nurturing environment our team creates every day for children and families during times of need.
While we will continue to refer to the program as a Crisis Nursery to ensure families, referral partners, and community members clearly understand the service we provide, Nan’s Place offers a more welcoming and recognizable identity that better reflects the experience of the children and families we serve.
What hasn’t changed is our commitment to supporting families. Nan’s Place remains the Children’s Cottage Society’s Crisis Nursery, providing safe, nurturing care for children while parents and caregivers access the support, resources, or respite they need.
For families facing challenges, Nan’s Place is here when it matters most.
Because every family needs a place they can turn to, and every child deserves a place where they feel safe, cared for, and at home.
