Holiday Wishes from our CEO

Dear Friends of the Cottage:

As we move into the holiday season, I’m reflecting back on the year and feeling deeply grateful for the community that surrounds The Children’s Cottage.

This year was filled with major milestones that will shape our work for years to come. We officially opened our Family Mental Wellness Hub. This space brings together community, culture, and clinical care to ensure families do not have to face a mental health crisis alone and can access quick and barrier-free support. We also launched our Little Blossoms School Readiness Program, supported by the Steve & Tina Wilson Family Foundation. This innovative strategy provides a developmental leap forward for children aged 3-5, through specialist-guided care, connection, and play.

Thanks to the generosity of so many donors, we were able to complete our $26.5M Caring Together Capital Campaign and shred the mortgage on our Child & Family Centre on Home Road. This exciting moment opens up new horizons of growth and outreach!

What fills my heart with pride isn’t only what we opened, launched, or completed. It’s what happened in everyday moments all year long. It’s the baby who was held and nurtured at the Crisis Nursery. It’s the parent who could finally take a breath, knowing their child was safe while they got the help they needed. It’s the family who found their footing because someone answered the phone, opened a door, made space, or simply showed up.

Those thousands of “small” moments add up to real impact, and you helped make them possible. From all of us at The Children’s Cottage, thank you for being a part of this work by donating, volunteering, attending an event, or simply sharing our message with someone.  However you showed up, you helped build a community where children can be healthy and safe, and where families can become resilient.

Wishing you peace, warmth, and joyful moments with the people you love this holiday season.

With gratitude,
Danielle Ladouceur

P.S. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to close out the year, a gift to Children’s Cottage helps ensure timely, compassionate support to children and families when they are facing crisis.
